|
MELISSA BROWN, Executive Director of the Association for Sustainable and Responsible Investment in Asia (ASrIA). Before joining ASrIA, she spent 15 years in Asia working for international investment banks in equity research and research management. In addition to building an equity research operation in South Korea for BZW, she covered regional utility stocks for JP Morgan and Salomon Smith Barney. Before moving to Asia in 1988, she worked as an analyst covering emerging growth stocks for the investment managers Lord, Abbett & Co. in New York and for a speciality tax policy magazine in Washington, D.C. She has an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a BA in Economics from Williams College. YK PARK, Project Director, Before moving to Hong Kong from Seoul in 2002, YK spent 10 years as a securities analyst working for international investment banks based in South Korea. She has covered a range of industry sectors including electric power, consumer, and heavy industries such as chemicals for Barings and Salomon Smith Barney. She holds a BA in Information Science from Yonsei University in Korea. In her time at ASrIA, YK has focused on the creation of the SRI Funds and Toxic Chemicals Portals and the implementation of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in Korea. She has also provided commentary on sustainable investment issues to a broad range of Korean and global investors.
DAVID ST. MAUR SHEIL, Director Operations and Co-Founder of ASrIA. David started his career in Standard Chartered Bank. Subsequently, David left the Bank to help found an environmental consultancy based in Hong Kong. For the past fifteen years he has been consistently involved in sustainable development related initiatives in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific Region and has extensive ecological and community business experience. He has been a director/partner of several successful ecologically and community oriented businesses. He has had a long-term interest in SRI. He was a founding member of the UK Social Investment Forum and a member of the New Economics Forum. He set-up and manages the ASrIA website and news services. David has a Masters of Philosophy in Comparative Literature from Hong Kong University.
SCOTT LINDER, Associate Director, Scott has a background in conservation, ecology and sustainable development. He has consulted for the World Bank, World Wide Fund for Nature, The Nature Conservancy and worked in flood disaster relief in New York in conjunction with FEMA. He also worked with the United States Geological Survey as a hydrologic technician and Geographic Information System (GIS) specialist. He has a Masters in Restoration Ecology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Scott brings a strong on-the-ground environmental perspective to ASrIA.
SWEETA MOTWANI, Administrative Director. Sweeta has lived in Hong Kong all her life. She has been actively involved in alternative health and environmental issues chairing the Complementary Medicine Society of Hong Kong for 5 years. She has considerable experience as a co-ordinator and in market/company research, publishing, recruitment and events organisation.
NG KOON CHOW (SKY), Website Manager, Sky obtained a BEng Degree in Computer Science from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Interested in social issues and creative design, Sky has experience in website development and network system design. He is responsible for the development of the ASrIA website as well as the design and production of all ASrIA publications.
Research Associates CHRISTY LYONS, Research Associate. Christy comes to ASrIA with an international working background. She spent a year doing socially responsible investment research in the USA, focusing mainly on environmental issues, and then moved to London for her graduate work and an opportunity in investment banking. After spending time doing investment banking in London & Hong Kong, Christy has eagerly come back to the socially responsible investment research she has always wanted to do. Christy has her BA in Environmental Sciences & Psychology from Northwestern University and has a Graduate Diploma in International Business from Cambridge Univesity.
JANE SADLER, Consultant, Community Investment
KIRSTI MCLEAN, Research Associate. Before moving to Asia in 1998, Kirsti worked as a labour and employment lawyer for Blake, Cassels & Graydon in Toronto, Canada. Kirsti was called to the Bar in the province of Ontario in 1996. She earned her law degree from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Kirsti has a Master of Industrial Relations degree from Queen's University and a Bachelor of Commerce (with distinction) from Concordia University in Montreal.
LUCY CARMODY, Research Associate. Lucy is the Founder of The CSR Practice Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based consultancy with a focus on CSR and ethical investment. She has an extensive background in finance with a focus on Asian markets as well as branding and business management.
DAVE DORE, Summer Associate. Before pursuing his MBA at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Dave served for two-and-a-half years in rural Thailand with the U.S. Peace Corps, a boutique international development agency. He has previously worked in Washington, DC focusing on sustainable security issues and in the New England region (U.S.) as a legislative coordinator for a global human rights organization. He joins ASrIA to assist with the development and launch of a Water, Policy & Finance in China website. He holds a MS in Justice, Law & Society from American University and a BS in Political Science from Presbyterian College.
