Events Update
 

ASrIA has been engaged in a number of significant events and there are more coming up during October and November. These include launches around the region of this year’s CDP report. ASrIA’s CDP Asia-Ex Japan report can be freely downloaded from the ASrIA website. ASrIA, HKVCPEA and HKICPA presented a joint Seminar on September 29 in Hong Kong for the private equity community, with a presentation on Sustainable Investment Strategies in China. In addition, ASrIA is represented at or a supporter of the following events: SRI at the Rockies, October 26-29, Whistler, Canada; The Asia Pacific Family Office Conference, October 30-31, Hong Kong; CSR Asia Summit 2008, November 3-4, Bangkok, Thailand and Carbon Trade Asia, November 18-19, Hong Kong.

  ASrIA Releases CDP Asia Ex-Japan Report, 30 September, Hong Kong  
   

The CDP06 Asia Ex-Japan report was released. ASrIA's Executive Director, Melissa Brown, and Carbon Disclosure Project's Head of Global Operations, Sue Howells presented. Speakers from Merrill Lynch included Jennifer Jiang, Director, Merrill Lynch Commodities Solutions, Asia Pacific. Merrill Lynch sponsored and supported the launch event. The report is freely downloadable from the ASrIA website.

CDP Report Launch in Korea, October 16, Seoul
The event is supported by the KoSIF, ASrIA and Eco-Frontier. Speakers will include the Korean Minister of the Environment as well as from CDP UK, ASrIA and KoSIF. A Korean CDP report, authored by ASrIA will be published.

CDP Report Launch in Taiwan, October 20, Taipei
The event has been co-organised by WBCSD Taiwan and ASrIA, and will include speakers from CDP UK, ASrIA and WBCSD. The event is sponsored by Acer Inc.

CDP Report Launch in Beijing, October 24, Beijing
The event will include representatives of CDP, Syn Tao and WWF.

 
       
  Joint ASrIA, HKVCPEA and HKICPA Seminar: Sustainable Investment Strategies for Private Equity in China, September 29, Hong Kong  
    Yeung Hauman presented on behalf of ASrIA on the challenges of sustainable private equity investment at a joint event with the HK Venture Capital and Private Equity Association and the HK Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  
       
  9th annual SRI in the Rockies Conference, October 26-29, Whistler, Canada  
    SRI in the Rockies is an annual gathering of socially responsible investment industry practitioners and related organizations. SRI in the Rockies is co-produced by the Social Investment Forum and First Affirmative Financial Network. Melissa Brown, past Executive Director of ASrIA will be delivering a keynote presentation. The International Working Group (IWG) will hold their Spring Symposium on the 25th and 26th October, prior to the SRI in the Rockies event.  
       
  Ethical Supply Chain Summit, October 29-31, Hong Kong  
    The event will showcase the latest best practices of global corporations in establishing ethical supply chain practices in Asia. Representatives from across industry will highlight how they are working with environmental and labour regulations to ensure ethical supply chain management.  
       
  The Asia Pacific Family Office Conference, October 30-31, Hong Kong  
    Campden Conferences sixth annual event designed exclusively for Asian families and their family offices. This year's conference will focus on the theme "Carrying on the family legacy" and will provide valuable and practical advice on family office structure, function and direction for their family and future generations. ASrIA Director Operations, David St. Maur Sheil will facilitate a discussion on ‘Creating Competitive Returns While Building Your Social Agenda’.  
       
  CSR Asia Summit 2008, November 3-4, Bangkok, Thailand  
    Running for the 6th time in 2008, the annual CSR Asia Summit is poised to explore hot topics unique to the Asian context, which would bring new insights for businesses, governments, NGOs and other CSR practitioners. ASrIA is a Supporting Organisation, and ASrIA Project Director YK Park will be presenting at the event.  
       
  Carbon Trade Asia, November 18-19, Hong Kong  
    This conference addresses important subjects regarding the investment opportunities in carbon market as well as the development of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects and its impacts on your investment strategies. ASrIA is a Supporting Organisation and ASrIA members are entitled to a special 10% discount upon registration. ASrIA Project Director YK Park will be presenting on the Asian findings of the 2008 Carbon Disclosure Report.
