EDITORIAL

Global financial markets have passed through a testing period, however as the year draws to a close we can see activity picking up again around ESG integration by investors, especially focussed on governance issues. There is also a deeper awareness by corporates that CSR is part of their core strategy. All eyes are now on Copenhagen and it is hoped that a significant agreement is finally reached, thereby providing an enabling framework for sustainable policies, investment strategies and tradeable emissions markets going forward. ASrIA has had an active year, working closely with our members and wider network and releasing major reports. This last month, ASrIA welcomes a new member, Vina Capital. VinaCapital Group is a leading asset management, investment banking and real estate consulting firm based in Vietnam. We are pleased to announce a number of executive changes at ASrIA which reflect the full engagement of our board, including the election of Alexandra Tracy as our Chairman. A special note of thanks goes to Wai-Shin Chan, who is taking up a new position, for his valuable contributions over the last year.

There are a number of other notable events coming up in December and in the new year, for which ASrIA is pleased to be an organizer or a supporting partner.

  Changes At ASrIA

ASrIA’s executive team has been strengthened with more active participation by our Hong Kong based board members. Alexandra Tracy has taken over the role of Chairman from Rajesh Srivastava, who remains as a non-executive member of the Board. Our sincere thanks to Rajesh for his wise guidance of ASrIA over the last 3 years. Alex is already making a great contribution to ASrIA, as an events speaker and by writing articles and we look forward to her leadership of the Board over this next period. Additionally, David St. Maur Sheil and Erik Floyd have taken over as Joint-Executive Directors to more effectively manage ASrIA's increasing workload. Wai-Shin Chan is moving on to work for a local fund management company. We are sad to lose him as part of the core team and are pleased with his intention to continue to help in an advisory capacity. We wish Wai-Shin every success and thank him for his contributions to the organisation. For those not familiar with Alex and Erik, who both bring strong financial backgrounds to ASrIA’s team, their bios can be found here: http://www.asria.org/asria/team/team?expand_all=1
