EDITORIAL

Descriptions of the Copenhagen negotiations have ranged from 'the whole process was flawed' to 'the G2 failed us' to 'this was an important milestone'. There was incremental progress, even though we had hoped for a more significant agreement. However in the absence of forceful action by governments greater emphasis is now placed on the role of investors and corporations in maintaining momentum towards a low-carbon world. ASrIA member Deutsche Bank's recent report on the climate change opportunities and asset allocation framework provides a valuable contribution to this process. ASrIA is also continuing with a strong focus on climate change issues, by jointly organising in March the Carbon Disclosure Forum 2010 in Singapore with the Singapore Business Federation (SBF). In December we also launched an innovative 'off-site' briefing series that had consultants and investment professionals receiving a CLP presentation about its climate vision and touring a HK power station. Finally, we thank ASrIA member Standard Chartered Bank for hosting our first briefing event of 2010, with ASrIA member FTSE Group providing insight into responsible investment indices around the world. ASrIA Director Tessa Tennant also updated participants on the Copenhagen Accords after her attendance there.

ASrIA is pleased to organise or support these upcoming events:

Microfinance Investments in Asia, Singapore
