EDITORIAL

ASrIA has organised a strong event schedule for Spring 2010.  Following the successful and very well attended Singapore Carbon Disclosure Forum 2010 on March 16, other events include the ASrIA Smart Energy Briefing with SAM in Hong Kong on March 19 , WBCSD stakeholder consultation workshop in Hong Kong on March 29 , and a Business and human rights workshop in Hong Kong on March 30 organised by ASrIA member BSR.  Other upcoming events include a series of Carbon Forums around Asia, a forestry sector investment forum in Hong Kong and the TBLI in Asia event in Japan.  See here for details.

In February, we held successful training programmes in Vietnam, with members VietNam Holding Asset Management Ltd. and VinaCapital Group. A news item on the VNH event can be found here.

Several ASrIA members are currently engaging with us on the ‘Low Carbon Investment in Asia’ research project, sponsored by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Members wanting to learn about this research and investor engagement project and discuss ways to participate are welcome to contact us direct.

In regional news, it was notable that two of our Japanese members, Daiwa and Nikko, were instrumental in launching innovative green and sustainable water bond products in partnerships with the ADB and World Bank.

Nikko Asset Management Partners with World Bank Group on Green Bonds

 
   
ASrIA member Nikko Asset Management develops green bonds in partnership with the WBG. The bonds help finance WBG-funded projects that are designed to tackle climate change.
