ASrIA Submits Draft 'Low Carbon Investment in Asia' Summary Report to FCO |

ASrIA has been implementing the Low Carbon Investment in Asia project, with sponsorship from the British Government's Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). We recently submitted a draft Summary Report to the FCO, which provides an overview of the key issues for investors due to climate change and to a shift to a low-carbon economy in Asia. We are in the process of scheduling one-on-one briefings with investment professionals in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Mumbai. ASrIA Joint Executive Director Highlights the Role of Investor Relations in Vietnam |

On May 5 and 6, Erik Floyd, Joint Executive Director of ASrIA, spoke in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City about the critical role investor relations has to play in encouraging long-term investment in Vietnam's sustainable development. Erik discussed the financial and non-financial disclosure standards expected by international investors. Organised by ASrIA member VNH Asset Management and the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), the 5th Viet Nam Holding Forums focused on the long-term value of investor relations. |

As part of the U.S. Social Investment Forum's Spring Symposium, Alex talked about the many catalysts for change in the sustainability performance of Chinese banks including government policy, external pressure, and competitive positioning. |

He focused on the ongoing issues posed by climate change for asset owners. He provided insights into how the Copenhagen negotiations could impact investment strategies. |

ASrIA Chair Alexandra Tracy also talked about financing low-carbon growth in Asia at the Pensions 80 Seoul Summit 2010 on 17 June. Hosted by the National Pension Service of Korea and supported by ASrIA member Asian Development Bank, the Summit brought together a number of pension funds from the P8 Group with their counterparts from pension funds across Asia. |

ASrIA and Sindicatum Carbon Capital (SCC) organised a series of luncheons in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo during May and June on the subject of unlocking the value of carbon assets. SCC has investments in 27 carbon-reduction projects, many of which are in Asia, and believes that many companies in Asia could increase their revenues by capturing GHG emissions and using them for power generation. |
