ASrIA would like to invite you to an exclusive briefing and networking event with Will Oulton, Director of FTSE’s Responsible Investment Unit (RIU), who will discuss the changing global landscape of responsible investment and the role of RI indices.

2009 was a year of turbulent market conditions and growing concerns over the impact of climate change. This has led to an awareness amongst investment professionals that environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors need to be integrated into their decisions as they can have a significant influence on the long term performance of their holdings. These same challenges affect Asian investors with the need to define, access and benchmark portfolios to take ESG into consideration. Indices are a way to navigate the decision making process and this briefing aims to provide a practical approach on the application of ESG related indices.

FTSE Group (FTSE) has been a long standing member of ASrIA and an influential player in the responsible investment area. In 2001, the FTSE4Good Index Series was launched and since then the inclusion criteria of the FTSE4Good Index Series have been regularly enhanced with the support of a comprehensive engagement programme. In addition, FTSE has broadened its RI index range to now include the award winning FTSE Environmental Market Indices and the FTSE-KLD Indices.

As Director of Responsible Investment at FTSE Group, Will Oulton develops strategies for the creation and evolution of FTSE’s Responsible Investment products and services. He is widely regarded as a thought leader in this area, and is a member of the European Sustainable Investment Forums’ (Eurosif) Board, the UKSiF Sustainable Pensions Advisory Board, a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at Nottingham University Business School, as well as editor of the recent book, ‘Investment Opportunities for a Low Carbon World’.

ASrIA Co-Founder and Director, Tessa Tennant, who was also recently at Copenhagen, will also provide a brief commentary at the end of the event.
