After visiting the last company, the bus will return you to the hotels at approximately 6:15-6:30 that evening.

Cosmo Oil
Cosmo Oil is a domestic crude oil refiner and distributor. The company’s products include gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene and lubricant oil. The Company has a cross functional Global Environment Committee that has established its Global Environment Plan. Cosmo Oil has reduced SOx emissions from its four refineries by > 10% since 1990 and also keeps NOx emissions below local standard levels. The Company is working on a deep desulfurization unit for diesel fuel and new catalysts through their own research efforts. It also has a system to reduce benzene contained in gasoline to achieve a level significantly below the regulatory tolerant level of benzene content in gasoline products. Cosmo Oil has also engaged in a series of philanthropic and community activities.

Daiwa Securities Group
Daiwa Securities is one of the leading securities houses in Japan. The Corporate Community Affairs Department of the Daiwa Securities Group Inc. has created a framework for Group-level social contribution activities, as well as an organized support structure for voluntary activities by directors and employees. In addition to its own social contribution activities, the Daiwa Securities Group also works through the Daiwa Securities Health Foundation, the Daiwa Securities Foundation and the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation (http://www.daiwa-foundation.org.uk/). This meeting will not only explore Daiwa’s own corporate responsibility strategy, but will also explore the potential for SRI in Japan.

Dowa Mining Corporation
Dowa Mining mines, refines, smelts and produces various metal-related products. The company’s main products include minerals, precious metals, battery materials, semiconductor and superconductivity materials, magnetic materials and optical devices. At the meeting, the Company will demonstrate some of the latest technologies they have developed with environmental preservation as a key aim.

Sony Corporation
Sony develops and maufactures consumer and industrial electronic equipment. The Company’s products include audio and video equipment, televisions, computers and computer peripherals, telecommunication equipment, semiconductors and electronic components. It also operates game and music software, movies and TV. Sony’s management has positioned environmental preservation as a “key long term management challenge”. Sony has developed its own set of environmental indices to measure the environmental impact of its business activities. Sony's community affairs program includes financial support as well as product donations, to respond to the needs of communities, building partnerships with non-profit organizations and sponsoring volunteer programs for Sony employees. Sony has a display room at the head office that displays their environmentally friendly technologies .
