Ms. N. Cinnamon Dornsife
Director of Financial Markets, Forest Trends

N. Cinnamon Dornsife is currently the Director for Financial Markets at Forest Trends, a position she has held since January 2002. Forest Trends is an international non-profit organization with the mission of conserving forests through market-based mechanisms. Immediately prior, she was the U.S. Ambassador and Executive Director to the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Ms. Dornsife served as the U.S. Alternate Executive Director at the ADB from January 1994 until December 1999.

The U.S. Executive Director’s Office represents all U.S. positions on ADB policies, loans, projects, and procedures. Significant accomplishments since 1994 include timely targeted support to Thailand, Korea, and Indonesia in the Asian financial crisis in 1997-98 and its aftermath. In 1999, the Board reaffirmed poverty reduction as the Bank’s overarching mandate. There are now stronger anti-corruption measures, greater predictability, openness and transparency, and more participation by civil society in project identification and implementation. Bank wide support for private sector development and public private partnerships have also been strengthened. Strategic alliances and partnerships have expanded with the other multilateral development banks, international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), bilateral agencies, the private sector, non-governmental organizations and civil society.

Ms. Dornsife is a senior manager, negotiator, strategist and advocate with over twenty years’ experience in international banking, economic development and foreign policy including over fifteen years experience in the foundation/non-profit sector. Before joining the U.S. Executive Director’s Office, Ms. Dornsife was the Washington Representative for The Asia Foundation. Other positions with The Asia Foundation included Southeast Asia Program Field Director and Assistant Representative in Indonesia. Ms. Dornsife’s career has also included work with The World Bank, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S.-Asia Environmental Partnership and the Pathfinder Fund.

Ms. Dornsife received a Masters Degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from Emory University.
