Mr. Yamamoto joined the Development Bank of Japan after graduating from the Law Faculty of the University of Tokyo in 1983. He also completed an L.L.M. degree at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C in 1989.

In 1999 Mr. Yamamoto became Director of the Legal Division, Planning & Coordination Department at DBJ. During the period 1999–2002 he was Director, Legal Division, Credit Risk Management Department.

Since 2002 he has been at his present position as Director, Policy Planning Department, Environmentally Sustainable Development Group.

Mr. Yamamoto specialises in the area of Environmental Finance, Environment Law (Comparative Law), and Finance Law & Contract

Mr. Yamamoto has published the following books and papers:-
