Ian Jolly
Director - International Forest Investments
Grantham Mayo Van Otterloo & Co.

Ian Jolly joins RR having spent 15 years as a consultant with CFK – a leading NZ forest industry-consulting firm. As a director and senior consultant he has been intimately involved in more than 40 significant forest transactions and was project director covering valuations and due diligence of more than 2 billion dollars of plantation annually. He has also been a key team member in developing the first Australasian database of Implied Market Discount Rates for comparable sales analysis. Whilst this work was largely in Australasia, he has had significant project experience in South America, the pacific nations and Asia.

Ian joins RR as both a deal negotiator, and asset manager. Given the majority of his consulting work was for North American TIMO’s (including RII, UBS and RR), he is already very familiar with this business.

“I believe the last 15 years has been fantastic training for my current role with GMO RR. I’m very enthusiastic about focusing my efforts on a single business goal – that is to acquire and manage high quality forestry assets for the financial benefit of the investors. That these investments also have the potential to be beneficial to the environment and the local communities adds real satisfaction to the job”.

Ian holds an honors degree in forestry and is a Registered Forestry Consultant with the New Zealand Institute of Forestry. His personal interests revolve around a young family and tend primarily toward water sports. He also maintains a pilots license, primarily for forestry use.
