Julie McDowell is Head of SRI Research at Standard Life Investments. A US lawyer, she is a member of the bar of the District of Columbia, New York and Florida, and is admitted to practice in several US federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. She started her career on Wall Street as a litigation attorney with Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts. She has served in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the US Department of State, specialising in international trade, and at IBJ Schroder Bank & Trust in New York, practicing corporate and banking law. She has been working in the field of socially responsible investment since January 2000. Julie joined Standard Life Investments in September 2001 and is responsible for developing and implementing the approach of Standard Life Investments to socially responsible investment.
