Leon T. Ku is Senior Executive Vice President of the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TSEC). Based in Taipei, he is responsible for managing several TSEC operating units, including strategic planning, automated trading/information technology, finance, and international affairs.
Mr. Ku is a seasoned international business executive, with a career portfolio spanning a wide range of progressive responsibility and achievement.
Mr. Ku joined the TSEC in August 2003. Before assuming his current post, he served as Director of Investor Relations for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. (TSMC), the world’s leading semiconductor chip foundry. Mr. Ku was responsible in the promotion of TSMC global investor relations efforts since August 2001. Prior to this, Mr. Ku had been Director of Finance at WaferTech, LLC, a TSMC subsidiary in Washington State, since October 1999.
Prior to his tenure at TSMC, Mr. Ku was in private business for nearly 24 years. His earlier career includes work for several domestic and multinational firms, such as Citibank N.A., J.P. Morgan, and James Capel (a/k/a HSBC Securities), in Taiwan, Hong Kong and New York.
Born in November 1950, Mr. Ku is a 1973 graduate of National Taiwan University with a BA degree in Business Administration.
Mr. Ku is married with one daughter. Mrs. Felice Chen Ku works for UBS Investment Banking as Vice Chairman of its Asia Pacific operation. Miss Stefanie Ku resides in the United States and is pursuing a career relating to electronic music/digital media.
