Liam Salter
Coordinator
Worldwide Fund for Nature Asia

Liam Salter joined WWF in July 1999 with the responsibility of extending the international spread of the Campaign’s work, particularly focusing on Asia - Pacific.  Between 2001 and 2003 WWF set up 8 new national programmes focusing on climate and energy issues across the region – the largest NGO network on the issue.  WWF’s resulting Powerswitch! national campaigns in Asia-Pacific are focused on the power sector, where the imperative for reform is driven by the necessity for clean, cheap power in achieving sustainable development

Prior to joining WWF, Mr. Salter was Energy Specialist for Climate Network Europe, representing nearly 80 European environmental groups in Brussels.  He worked extensively on the promotion of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency within the EU, collaborating with a wide variety of groups from the EU Parliament to industry trade associations.

Mr. Salter was previously employed as an independent consultant on energy and the environment, working on a diverse range of issues including power sector planning in Northern Australia and photovoltaic market development in rural Kenya.

He holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Environmental Science from Stirling University, Scotland and a Masters of Science in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London.
