Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)


A
t GRI, Mr. Gilbert is responsible for the development of the GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, Sector Supplements, and Technical Protocols, and the facilitation of GRI's multi-stakeholder processes. In this capacity, he works regularly with organisations from across the global and from all backgrounds to develop the content of the GRI's guidance on sustainability reporting. Increasingly, an important part of his work for GRI has been enhancing the linkage between sustainability reporting and financial markets.

Mr. Gilbert is fluent in Chinese, prior to joining GRI in 2001, Mr.Gilbert was based in Taipei, Taiwan as a consultant for several years with a local consulting company doing regional projects to assess business approaches to environmental management, analyze trends in environmental policies, and conduct market research for environmental technologies and for the chemicals sector. During this time, he also served as Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce Environmental Committee in Taipei. Mr. Gilbert's work on environmental management also involved projects with development agencies, business groups, and investors looking at various aspects of environmental performance measurement.
