Development Bank of Japan (DBJ)


Takayuki YAMAMOTO has been Chief Representative of Representative Office in Singapore, Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) since April of 2004. One of his missions is to research the current situation of CSR and SRI in Asian countries and also provide information on environmentally conscious finance including DBJ ‘s financing activities to the people who need it especially in the financial sectors in Asian countries.

Before he was appointed as Chief Representative of Singapore Office, he had been in the policy-planning department at the Tokyo headquarters of DBJ for two years. He was in charge of making new policy based loan programs in the field of SRI, CSR and environment protection. Just before he came to Singapore, he successfully built up the first SRI loan program in Japan using the method of environmental rating. In addition, he played an important role to host the UNEP FI Tokyo Roundtable held in October 2003.

He also had considerable experience in making loans to environment protecting industries such as waste management, water purifying and soil cleaning.

He took Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. USA in 1988 and Bachelor of Law degree, University of Tokyo, Japan in 1983.
