Sustaining Value A Meeting on Finance and Sustainability

The 2003 UNEP FI Global Roundtable, "Sustaining Value", will focus on the role of the finance sector to promote best practice approaches in exercising good governance, accountability, transparency, and reporting. These four disciplines are integral to sustainable development, and reinforce the trust, confidence and credibility which underpin the long term stability of the financial system.
Panel sessions and in depth workshops at the Roundtable will address topics including:
- Governance and sustainability
- Emerging economies
- Strategic values of sustainability
- Impacts to business of the Kyoto Protocol
- Materiality of environmental and social risks
- Transparency, accountability, and reporting
- Building sustainability into the global financial system
The flagship event for UNEP FI, the Global Roundtable is recognised as the principal event on sustainability in the finance sector. The Roundtable provides an opportunity for bankers, insurers, and asset managers from around the globe to discuss new ideas and challenges in the fields of finance, insurance, and sustainability.
The 2003 UNEP FI Global Roundtable in Tokyo will carry on a tradition which stretches back a decade, and has spanned the globe from Chicago, to Frankfurt, to Rio de Janeiro. Over 500 delegates from around the globe will attend the Roundtable, which is open to the 290 Signatory institutions of the UNEP FI Statements, as well as delegates from:
- The Global Financial Industry
- Financial Regulatory Bodies
- Governments
- Professional Bodies
- Industrial Companies
- Academia
- Consultancies
Tessa Tenant, Chair of Association For Sustainable & Responsible Investment In Asia (ASrIA), will be giving a speech in the Roundtable.
