Socially Responsible Investment In India: Prospects & Challenges
Date: 12 September 2003
Location: Mumbai, India
India's first ever conference on Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) is held on Friday 12 Sept 2003 in Mumbai, India's financial capital. This conference marks the first of a series of programmes on investor education, research and advocacy by the Centre for Social Markets (CSM), to promote SRI in India. The conference is organised by the Centre for Social Markets (CSM), in association with ASrIA (Association for Sustainable & Responsible Investment), and sponsored by the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The conference will explore prospects and challenges for SRI in India. Initial observations suggest the country might be ready for SRI: the retail investment market in India is already significant and corporate and public attention to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is growing. The conference will discuss these issues with international and national experts, with a view to assessing whether, and how, SRI can be used as a tool for promoting sustainable and equitable development in India. This pioneering conference is, uniquely, being held for free for a select group of senior professionals from the financial and business communities, regulatory authorities, academia, voluntary organisations and opinion leaders. Registration is on a 'first-come' basis. As seats are limited, kindly register by MONDAY 8 SEPT 2003. To register, or for more information, please contact:
