IFC/FTConference: Sustainable Business in East Asia - A Roadmap to Success?
Date: 16 October 2003
Venue: JW Marriott Hotel, Hong Kong
For business people in East Asia the debate over sustainability is about more than reputation and goodwill. It is about increasing business value beyond the bottom line. Looking at the business through the lens of sustainability, however, can be challenging. It involves improving performance through enhanced corporate governance and transparency, reducing costs, managing risks, creating new products and fundamentally changing corporate culture and structure. The Financial Times and the International Finance Corporation have organised this conference to debate the prospects and potential of sustainability in East Asia. Leading executives will discuss what sustainability means for their business and share their experiences of implementing and adhering to sustainable business practices. Representatives of the finance community will discuss how banks and investors can promote and support sustainable businesses and members of civil society will debate the importance of multi-stakeholder dialogue and how stakeholder relationships are likely to evolve.
