The Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility is organising the First Asia Pacific CSR Conference and SVN Conference in Singapore on 12th and 13th July 2004 and with the theme “Spirit of CSR - Time For Action”.
The two main events are the Opening Ceremony of the First Asia Pacific CSR Seminar Series by Professor Tommy Koh and the Official Launch of the 7 Asia Pacific Centres for CSR during the Gala Dinner on 13 July 2004. The theme of "Spirit of CSR- Time for Action" was chosen as we witnessed very diverse stakeholders coming together to discuss CSR which we see as a common ground from which all parties can agree upon. The coming together of various stakeholders and in oneness in spirit as with competitor companies where boundaries both physical and mental seem of little or no consequence is an amazement in itself.
We see 2004 as a year for the spirit to manifest itself into tangible action and the conference is to capitalise on such and to spur all concerned on. The conference will have the unique feature where professional legal and accounting bodies would be involved as partner organisations. In addition, there will also be involvement of youths from the Asia Pacific region. They will join the main plenary sessions but will break into their separate group where focus would be on issues closer to the hearts of the youths, e.g. environmental concerns, youth and employment & food and product safety.
