KGSM has concerned with socially responsible investments and corporate social responsibility as an academic for last two years. The institute has held several workshops on these subjects with financial sectors and supported the First International Conference on Socially Responsible Investment in Korea last year. And this proposed workshop is a follow-up to last year's conference.

The workshop is also a commemorating event for launching of a new research center at KGSM, namely "KAIST CSR Research Center". This center is a restructured version of existing "Center for Green Management and Policy" at KGSM. This workshop is organized by the new KAIST CSR Research Center of KGSM, jointly with the Eco-Frontier Co. (a CSR consulting and rating agency) in association with "ASrIA","Finance Forum-Vision of the 21st Century" (forum for CEOs of financial institutions in Korea), and "Economy 21" (a weekly magazine).
