Conference On Forest Finance And Investment In China

The conference will focus on China's financial architecture for forestry-public financing policies and mechanisms as well as international lessons on public subsidies for plantations and industry, the experiences of the private sector with subsidies and the emerging standards for due diligence practices used by private banks and investors.

Speakers will include researchers as well as leaders in the Chinese banking sector, investment community and Chinese industry. The conference is co-sponsored with the Forest Economics and Development Research Center (FEDRC) of China's State Forestry Administration and CIFOR. These reports describe China's import trends by product, by country of origin and by port of entry for the last 5 years. Co-produced by CIFOR and the Chinese Center for Agricultural Policy (CCAP), both papers are based on a thorough analysis of Chinese customs data. This series, soon to be completed, presents analyses of Chinese demand for paper and paper products. It also includes analyses of export industry and trends in key countries supplying China, including Papua New Guinea, Burma, the Russian Far East, Indonesia and the Mekong region.
