International Conference on Sustainable Finance in Emergent Markets

The Seminar:
The International Conference on Sustainable Finance in Emergent Markets has as its main goal the establishment of an international network of sustainable finance players in developing countries, through a series of annual meetings, having São Paulo, and November 2004 as its inaugural gathering.

Civil society organizations Governments, private and public financial institutions, as well as academic organizations in emerging economies have independently been developing relevant work with the objective of demonstrating how the financial industry's investment and lending practices can minimize the social and environmental impact as well as foster sustainable development. However these players have rarely the opportunity to share experiences, challenges and further discuss the appropriate market incentives, regarded as a must for the success of sustainable finance initiatives.

Formal panel sessions and workshops will take place in in São Paulo on November 22 and 23 followed by two days of field trips to present a series of succesfull cases in Brasil.
