ADFIAP Co-organizes Environmental Finance Forum

Under the ADFIAP’s “Greening of DFIs” project, the Association has teamed up with the Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (APRSCP) to organize a forum on the “Greening the Financial Sector Forum II on March 11, 2005 at the Dusit Hotel Nikko in Makati City.

The forum highlighted that good environmental governance is not only part of good corporate citizenship, but more importantly, of sound business management.

Multilateral financial institutions – the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) – as well as Philippine banks – Land Bank and DBP – had their lead representatives speak during the event.

Assistant Governor Diwa Guinigundo of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas keynoted the event while Ambassador Jesus P. Tambunting, Chairman & CEO of Planters Development Bank and current ADFIAP Chair and Dr. Olivia Castillo, APRSCP Chair and President, were the opening speakers.

Speakers also included Sophie Le Clue,Associate Director of ASrIA.

The Chamber of Thrift Banks (CTB), the Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines (BMAP) and First Philippine Holdings Corporation were the other supporting organizations of the conference.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Assistant Governor Diwa Guinigundo will deliver the keynote address. The Philippine speakers list will include DBP Reynaldo David, Land Bank President Margarito B. Teves, APRSCP Chair Dr. Olivia Castillo and ADFIAP Chairman and Planters Development Bank Chairman and CEO Ambassador Jesus P. Tambunting.

Other presentors are UNEP Industry Program Officer Niclas Svenningsen, ADB Environmental and Social Safeguard Division Director Nessim Ahmad, IFC Country Manager Vipul Bhagat and Hongkong-based independent environmental advisor Sophie Emma le Clue.

Conference fee is only P2,500 which includes conference materials, refreshments and lunch at the Dusit Hotel Nikko.
