WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

The rapid growth of China's economy has led to urgent moves by the government to instill plans for expansion in the power generation and T&D infrastructure. The government is realizing the need to implement a more balanced policy in energy creation and the environment, thus unveiling a sustainable energy policy to encourage investment into alternative sources of energy namely renewable energy, nuclear power, hydropower and gas power.

In the late 2004, the relevant bodies have set a specific target to meet 12% of its power generation capacity from renewable by 2020, which has spelt out the Renewable Energy Law taking effect in 2006. Meanwhile, the government has set itself the objective to increase nuclear power from the current 1.8% to 4% of its total output by 2020, which implies 36GW installed nuclear power capacity needed and a huge amount of USD 40 billion investment required by 2020. All this, coupled with the frequent power shortage over recent years, creates an unprecedented favorable backdrop for the alternative energy and power industry.

The China Power & Alternative Energy Summit 2005, we believe, will be a leading event to address the energy issues that China faces, explore the best practices and surprising case scenarios so that participants can get all insights they need to set the pace in China’s energy and power industry.
