Date: 26 May, 2005 4:00pm Dear Hong Kong based members and friends, The international environmental management standard ISO 14001 is increasingly being adopted by organisations worldwide . Not surprisingly it is often quoted by companies as evidence of good environmental performance e.g. in public offering documents and environmental reports. However, is a simple statement enough to provide assurance about potential environmental risks? From the shrewd investor's As the Environmental Technical Advisor with the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, Dr Ian T Nicolson has spent 7 years auditing a diverse range of companies in both Hong Kong and China as part of the ISO 14001 certification process. He has first hand experience of the practical difficulties that companies face in achieving and maintaining certification. From this basis Dr Nicholson will provide a detailed account of what investors need to know about ISO 14001. The briefing will be held at 4:00pm on Thursday, 26th May and will close at 6:00pm at the latest. Attendance will be on a first come first serve basis, with priority registration being given to ASrIA members. Please RSVP and let me know if you are able to attend. Non-ASrIA members who wish to attend will be charged HK$200. I look forward to seeing you there. Best regards, |
