Renewable Energy Finance Forum - China

Date: March 30-31, 2006
Venue: Kerry Centre, Beijing, China

ASrIA is one of the supporting partners.

The fastest growing economy in the world is taking a serious approach to renewable energy sources, aiming to achieve a more balanced energy mix and greater energy security as well as lower emissions. The passing of the Renewable Energy Promotion Law, effective 1 January 2006, and the recent Government announcement to raise its renewable energy targets to 130GW by 2020 stands as clear evidence of the strong commitment of the People's Republic of China to boost its renewable energy generation.

The emergence of this market will require an overall investment of approximately $200 billion by 2020, creating tremendous opportunities as well as challenges for international and domestic investors, developers, financiers and manufacturers. The envisaged target of 130GW means a more than twelve-fold increase in capacity since 2004 and will ultimately result in a mature renewable energy market stretched over all available renewable energy technologies.
