Mobilising Business and the Sponsored by Date: Thursday 22nd March 5pm-7pm Climate Change and the challenges we face in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions need little introduction. However what options are available for members of the local and business community? Tessa Tennant, one of the founders of ASrIA, and Lima Salter, Head of WWF’s Climate Change programme, provide perspectives for a broad audience addressing both the potential for and examples of corporate action as well as emerging opportunities for consumers. Tessa Tennant has been working on climate change initiatives for a number of years. In the early nineties, she formulated the first 'low carbon' investment strategies for equity investors. She then went on to work on the development of a carbon accounting methodology for companies in the mid-90s, which formed the basis for DEFRA's guidance for companies as well as being absorbed into the GHG Carbon Accounting Protocol. She has worked with UNEP FI on climate change in the early years where she was a member of the drafting committee of the Statement on Climate Change and presented at the Conference of the Parties meetings during the 90s including an Insurer's Briefing at Kyoto. Moving past the millennium, Tessa was one of the founders of the Carbon Disclosure Project and organised ASrIA's ground-breaking conference on Carbon Markets in HK in 2003. She is currently a board member of ASrIA, director of Solarcentury and is founder and Chair of the newly incorporated ICE Organisation. Tessa will draw upon this experience to provide insights on:
As Head of WWF Hong Kong’s climate programme, Liam’s focus is to support action on climate change in Hong Kong and southern China. For the last seven years, he worked for WWF International focusing on extending the spread of the organisation’s climate and energy work in Asia Pacific. Between 2001 and 2006, WWF set up 10 new national programmes focusing on climate and energy issues across the region, becoming the largest NGO network on the issue in Asia. Prior to joining WWF, Liam worked as a political analyst for the Climate Action Network, representing nearly 80 European environmental groups in Brussels. Liam will provide insights on corporate action on climate change and emerging opportunities:
