Since ASrIA’s formation in 2001, a constantly recurring question from business leaders has been for examples of good sustainable practice.  They want to know what is expected of them from the SRI community and they want to evaluate how far short from the mark they fall.

Most recently we held a briefing with the auditors Price Waterhouse Coopers and Index managers FTSE, for senior Hong Kong business people to explain SRI and the importance of sustainable business practice.  The need for a resource for good practice was the major conclusion from the meeting.

Areas of good practice which we will be looking for include the following:

Workplace practices,

Community involvement,

Environmental management including eco-product development,  product take back, waste and energy reduction, eliminating toxics, approach to marketing, sourcing and supply chain management.  

Corporate governance,

Our aim is to publish this information on-line in a highly accessible and user-friendly way and promote its existence among Asian businesses and the wider community. 

We want to co-operate with any other groups interested in developing this resource.
