Want to know what the world´s leading chemical company is doing on sustainability? BASF has just posted online its latest Sustainable Development newsletter, which carries news on developments inside the company.

Among other topics, the online document outlines how BASF is:

• working with two UN bodies to help put African textile and leather
  manufacturers on a more sustainable footing.
• progressing on its long-term environmental targets for 2012 first set by
  the company in 2002
• continuing its long-term work to protect rainforest around its
  Guarantigueta site in Brazil, involving local communities in the Mata Viva
  project
• involved in a partnership on sustainable urban development with the UN
  Human Settlements Programme
• working with the UK NGO Forum for the Future to create a stakeholder
  map, identify key interested parties and then engage in dialogue with
  them.

BASF recently produced a strategy document that commits the company to globally recognized labour and social standards.
