Japanese Government Purchases Its First Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Credits 19 April, 2005 The CDM project aims to generate electric power using rice husks in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. The Japanese government will receive CDM credits totaling 18,500 tons of carbon dioxide (2006-2012). The project will be implemented by A.T. Biopower Co. in Thailand, and is sponsored by Chubu Electric Power Co. of Japan, the entity which applied for the government subsidy of 140 million yen (about U.S. $1.4 million).
