Shalini Mahtani on Hong Kong Honours List 2005

20 July, 2005

The Directors of Community Business congratulate Shalini Mahtani, chief executive officer of Community Business, for receiving the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service 2005. This award is given to individuals for their outstanding performance in a single act or a single project or the service to the community.

Shalini, who founded Community Business in January 2003, is a leader in Hong Kong's corporate social responsibility (CSR) movement and works with some of the world's leading companies on issues such as diversity and non-discrimination in the workplace and corporate community investment.

Shalini has helped to advance issues and best practices in CSR in Hong Kong and in the Asia region.

This award by the Hong Kong SAR Government is recognition of Shalini's commitment to promoting equal opportunity in Hong Kong through her efforts to shed light on the plight of ethnic minorities and women.  At Community Business she has combined her concern for minorities and women with her knowledge of business to provide the corporate sector with solutions for maximising their investments in their work forces.

Shalini is a fourth-generation Indian from Hong Kong. She is a graduate from the London School of Economics and a qualified Certified Public Accountant.
