IMF to Move Ahead with SWF Guidelines

(ASrIA commentary) The IMF’s Executive Board has endorsed further work on best practice guidelines for sovereign wealth funds (SWFs). This has the potential to reinforce the IMF’s role as the leading player in dialogue about ground rules for SWFs. The IMF will coordinate its work with efforts by the OECD. The framework document prepared by the IMF to establish a work agenda shows a focus on two important issues: 1) public governance of the funds; and 2) transparency.
