SRI Portal News
SRI Funds in Asia Surge from 158 to 203 Funds.
The SRI fund portal has been updated with data from our recent survey of
SRI funds, which shows growth of almost fifty new funds in the region.
Growth in SRI funds during 2007 has been particularly notable in Korea,
with the number of funds growing from 14 to 31. Japan has also continued to
show steady growth, from 38 to 50 SRI related funds. While there were a
couple of thematic funds launched focused on such as water and property,
the majority of the funds launched in Japan focused on environmental value
screening.
Australia and New Zealand Funds Dropped from the Portal.
Previously the SRI fund portal included a listing of known Australian and
New Zealand funds, however the most recent data available from the
Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA), previously known as
the Ethical Investment Association (EIA), does not provide a comprehensive
listing of Australian SRI funds. Therefore ASrIA’s previous published
figure for SRI funds in the region, of 282, has been adjusted down due to
excluding Australasian data. For updated data on Australasia, see the the
RIAA's 2007 Benchmark Report, which shows that the value of Australasian
SRI investment grew 43% in the year to June 2007, from $13.52 billion to
$19.39 billion, outstripping the mainstream by more than two to one. See
