Fund Manager:
CLSA Capital Partners

Fund Name:
Clean Water Asia Fund

Launch Date:
May-07

Screening (except economy):
Thematic - Water

Key Characteristics:
The fund was launched with US$5 mil seed capital in May 2007. The main driver behind the establishment of this fund was a huge growth trend occuring in Asian water infrastructure development, pollution abatement, waste management and waste-to-energy fields. Like its sister fund, Clean Resources Asia Fund, the fund's main holdings are predominantly in listed equity shares and pre-IPO private equity positions in companies operating profitably in the water & water management sector. Waste management in particular is expected to become a high growth area, as it matures and is split between recapture and waste-to-energy. The fund is typically long biased with short positions in companies suffering excessive energy costs, excessive valuation, failing to execute or incurring significant pollution risks.
