KEY Characteristics:
Registered in Ireland, the fund has raised around 130 billion won from about a dozen institutional investors, mostly from abroad, and is managed by Lazard Asset Management of the United States. It expects to increase its assets under management to 200 billion won by end-2006. The fund launched by Korea University Business School Dean Jang aims to build better corporate governance and raise corporate value, investing in undervalued Korean firms due to a weak governance structure. Many expect the fund to help improve corporate governance and set up a new model for an SRI fund in Korea.
