Fund Name:
Kausar Balanced Growth Shariah Fund

Launch Date:
Sep-06

Screening (except economy):
Islamic Syariah fund

KEY Characteristics:
Indonesia's first Shariah compliant balanced unit trust fund with partial offshore exposure. With this fund, Indonesian investors now have Shariah compliant investment access to select offshore equity and fixed income securities. There are 242 Shariah-compliant stocks in Indonesia, more than the 30 securities comprising the Jakarta Islamic Index. The Kausar Balanced Growth Shariah Fund seeks to potentially maximize total returns over the long term by allocating assets among Shariah compliant stocks, bonds, and money market instruments.

The fund also aims to achieve long-term capital appreciation and income through investments in both Indonesian and offshore equity and debt assets, while complying with Islamic investment criteria.  Additionally, investors will benefit from the diversification of the offshore investment. Generally, the fund will invest around a neutral asset allocation mix of 70% stocks, 25% bonds, and 5% short-term/money market. The fund may invest up to 15% of the fund in foreign securities outside Indonesia.
