Fund Manager:
UBS Global Asset Management Inc

Fund Name:
UBS (TW) Global Innovators Fund

Launch Date:
Oct-07

Screening (except economy):
Environmental  performance and thematic -- water

Key Characteristics:
UBS AG launched its Global Innovators Fund which invests in companies seeking to tap the global appetite for clean energy, water and changing demographics. The fund is ideally composed of 50 to 70 stocks worldwide based on research by UBS' Socially Responsible Investments team, which was established in 1996 to directly manage approximately US$2 billion in assets.

The fund is actively-managed and broadly diversified rather than purely sector-based. It plans to invest three-quarters of its assets in companies with products and services that address climate change. The other quarter is earmarked for Germany, primarily in shares of companies involved in solar energy. The fund however does not invest in companies that produce biofuels from dietary crops, such as corn, because of the potential competition for food with humans. It also avoids nuclear power.

Asset Size:
NT$6.5 billion
