Introduction

The ASrIA 'CDP Portal' provides an overview of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) process in Asia

CDP Process

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a collaboration of 534 institutional investors with a combined US$64 trillion of assets under management, which seeks information from the world’s largest companies on the business risks and opportunities presented by climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.

The CDP 2010 Questionnaire will be sent to the Chairmen of 4,500 companies globally in February 2010, up from over 3,500 companies in 2009 and 3,000 in 2008. The CDP website provides a store-house of corporate greenhouse gas emissions data. CDP has assembled the largest corporate greenhouse gas emissions database in the world and its analyst reports, published annually, provide a detailed analysis of how the largest companies around the globe are responding to climate change.

ASrIA & CDP

ASrIA has been playing the leading role in the co-ordination of the CDP process in Asia, as the regional partner of the London based CDP.   ASrIA was involved in compiling the first list of Asian corporates in 2005 and has taken responsibility since then for circulating questionnaires, contacting corporates, analysing the responses and producing the annual CDP Asia ex-Japan Reports.   The 2009 Asia ex-Japan Report surveyed 220 companies in the Asian region and the sample has been enlarged for 2010.
