The Alliance for Global Sustainability (AGS) is an international partnership between four of the world's leading science and technology universities. The research teams have developed a significant body of new knowledge on critical issues in sustainability in amongst others the areas of energy and climate.

  • Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETHsustainability)
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT/AGS)
  • University of Tokyo (UT)
  • Chalmers University of Technology

The Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School, Swiss Re and the United Nations Development Programme joined forces in a three-year effort to examine the physical and health risks of climate instability culminating in the final report "Climate Change Futures: Health, Ecological and Economic Dimensions". An Executive Summary for Policymakers is also available.

Oxford University - The UK Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP)
http://www.ukcip.org.uk/about/default.asp

UKCIP helps organisations assess how they might be affected by climate change, so they can prepare for its impact. Set up in April 1997, UKCIP is funded by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) and based at the University of Oxford. It works with its stakeholders and co-ordinates research on how climate change will have an impact at regional and national levels.

Stanford University - Programme on Energy and Sustainable Development
http://pesd.stanford.edu

The Program on Energy and Sustainable Development is a multi-year, interdisciplinary program that draws on the fields of political science, law and economics to investigate how the production and consumption of energy affect sustainable development. It sponsors world-class research on the political, legal and economic aspects of the world's energy system and is catalyzing the creation of a funded, worldwide network of researchers working on these issues.
