Climate Change and carbon finance have caught the attention of finance institutions and investors worldwide, as a potential investment risk and also as an investment opportunity. Carbon markets in particular have taken off, with an estimated Euro 9.4 billion of trades globally in 2005. With the growth in interests and carbon markets, there has been an explosion in the number of relevant information resources including websites, journals and institutions providing guidance on this broad and technically complex area. To provide some insight on these developments and the resources available, ASrIA has developed this climate change portal with a particular focus on resources which should be useful to Asia-based users. It’s intended to provide easy access to a growing universe of web-based resources with an emphasis on the finance community. To facilitate easy navigation of the site, the carbon portal has been categorized according to a broad spectrum of potential interest areas ranging from reference to sites that provide basic information on the science of climate change and multi-lateral policy frameworks to sites which cover the intricacies of carbon finance and carbon trading mechanisms. This is not intended to be a comprehensive set of references. We do, however, want to make sure that we have found a stimulating cross-section of quality sources for an Asian finance audience. If we have missed one of your favourite sites, please let us know at scott@asria.org.
