A cooperative partnership between industry and the Australian Government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Canadian Clean Power Coalition
http://www.canadiancleanpowercoalition.com/Customer/ccpc/ccpcwebsite.nsf

Canadian Clean Power Coalition is an association of responsible, leading Canadian coal and coal-fired electricity producers. Its aim is to secure a future for coal-fired electricity generation, within the context of Canada's multi-fuelled electricity industry, by proactively addressing environmental issues with governments and our stakeholders.

Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (CEEA)

A non-profit, member supported organization charged with promoting energy efficiency in Canada, CEEA has constructed the Energy Efficiency Centre with the aim of providing users with easy access to information and resources related to energy efficiency.

Civic Exchange
http://www.civic-exchange.org/

Civic Exchange is an independent Hong Kong-based public policy think tank. Its mission is to:

(1) Promote civic education amongst members of the community, to conduct research and publicise the results so as to provide objective and balanced information to the public concerning economic, social and environmental issues; and

(2) Undertake research on development of economic, social and political policies and practices to help shape the breadth and depth of public policy debate and so to provide well-founded and reasoned argument on the issues identified above.

Civic exchange is currently researching the impact of climate change on Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong - including the predicted sea level rises and other possible impacts. It further plans to accumulate data that will contribute to developing a strategy to manage climate change risk in the greater Pearl River Delta.

Climate North East / WRI
http://www.climatenortheast.org

The Climate Northeast partnership builds strategies for companies to thrive in a carbon-constrained economy. Partners develop greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, share energy management practices and invest in clean energy technologies. These corporate actions shape multi-sectoral policy approaches for a safe climate and sound business future in the Northeast.

CVAT v1.1 is a screening tool to help companies integrate the value of carbon dioxide emissions reductions into energy-related investment decisions. It is a product of the Climate Northeast Partnership, a collaboration between WRI and 13 Fortune 500 companies based in the Northeastern United States. Through the project, participants work to devise winning strategies to allow companies to thrive in a carbon-constrained future. Corporate partners in the project include: Bristol-Myers Squibb, Con Edison, Citigroup, Eastman Kodak, General Electric, JPMorgan Chase, Johnson & Johnson, Northeast Utilities, Pfizer, Staples, Time Inc. and United Technologies Corporation. The tool has two main purposes:

1. Test the sensitivity of a project's internal rate of return (IRR) to "carbon value" (the value of GHG emissions reductions). CVAT integrates this value into traditional financial analysis by ascribing a market price, either actual or projected, to carbon emissions reductions.

2. Facilitate the development of emissions reduction strategies by developing a Marginal Abatement Cost Curve (MACC) across a portfolio of projects. CVAT ranks projects so managers can prioritize them according to their implicit cost per tonne of carbon emission reduction.

Climate Ark
http://www.climateark.org

Climate Ark is a climate change and global warming portal and search engine. It promotes public policy that addresses global climate change through reductions in carbon dioxide and other emissions, renewable energy, energy conservation and ending deforestation.

Foundation Joint Implementation Network
http://www.jiqweb.org

Foundation Joint Implementation Network (JIN) was established in 1994 with the aim to create an international network for research activities and information exchange about climate change policy issues, in particular project-based emissions trading. Over the years JIN has broadened its field of expertise to other issues such as climate change policy, development aid, technology transfer and energy market liberalisation.

Our Carbon Nation
http://www.ourcarbonnation.com

Our Carbon Nation is a UK based free director service designed to simplify the process for both institutions and individuals to off-set emissions. It provides information in its database on off-set providers and services in the Asian region.

Pew Centre on Global Climate Change

http://www.pewclimate.org

The Pew Center on Global Climate Change was established in 1998 as a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization. The Center's mission is to provide credible information, straight answers, and innovative solutions in the effort to address global climate change. Working on an issue that is often polarized and politicized, the Pew Center provides a forum for objective research and analysis and for the development of pragmatic policies and solutions. In its first seven years, the Pew Center has become a leading voice for sensible action to address the most pressing global environmental problem of the 21st century.

The Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF)
http://www.cslforum.org

CSLF is an international climate change initiative that provides a framework for international cooperation in research and development for the separation, capture, transportation and storage of CO2. Initiatives that it is focused on include development of improved cost-effective technologies for the separation and capture of CO2 for its transport and long-term safe storage. The purpose of the CSLF is to make these technologies broadly available internationally; and to identify and address wider issues relating to carbon capture and storage. This could include promoting the appropriate technical, political, and regulatory environments for the development of such technology.

The CSLF will seek to realize the promise of carbon capture and storage over the coming decades, making it commercially competitive and environmentally safe. 21 countries are currently members.

The Energy Wisdom Programme
http://public.eurelectric.org/Content/Default.asp?PageID=499

In 2000, the Union of the Electricity Industry launched a voluntary electricity industry initiative on sustainable development. The programme is currently in operation in 11 countries within 14 companies. It provides a platform upon which electricity companies are able to demonstrate their proactive approach towards sustainable energy production, delivery and use. It aims to achieve measurable improvements in energy efficiency and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in a cost-effective way.

The EU Castor Project
http://www.co2castor.com

CASTOR, "CO2 from Capture to Storage", is a European initiative grouping 30 partners (industries, research institutes and universities) coming from 11 different European countries and partially funded by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Program. The overall goal of CASTOR is to develop and validate, in public/private partnerships, all the innovative technologies needed to capture CO2 and store CO2 in a reliable and safe way. The CASTOR strategic objective is to enable the capture and geological storage of 10% of the CO2 emissions of Europe, which corresponds to about 30% of CO2 emitted by European power and industrial plants.

World Economic Forum (WEF)
http://www.weforum.org/en/initiatives/ghg/index.htm

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organisation committed to improve the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry agendas. It includes energy security and the carbon economy on its agenda and invites companies to register their GHG emissions in its global GHG register.

World Resources Institute (WRI)
http://www.wri.org

WRI is an environmental think tank that goes beyond research to create practical ways to protect the Earth and improve people's lives. As one of its goals, it aims to promote public and private action to ensure a safe climate and sound world economy. It undertakes numerous projects addressing climate change. In association with the WBCSD, WRI provides guidance on monitoring greenhouse gas emissions including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

Under the umbrella of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), leading experts on greenhouse gas emissions have developed internationally accepted accounting and reporting standards including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. http://www.ghgprotocol.org

World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
http://www.worldwildlife.org/climate/projects/climateSavers.cfm

In 2006 WWF produced a report with Allianz - an international financial services provider, which outlines specific steps for actions to better integrate risks from climate change into the insurance, banking and asset management business.
