WELCOME LETTER
from Tessa Tennant, Chair, ASrIA

Dear Friends,

Ten years ago, it was unacceptable to suggest taking social and environmental issues into account when making an investment decision. Thanks to the SRI community, this is no longer the case.  SRI criteria are now integrated into the management of many investment funds. This is certainly the case in North America, Europe and Australia. But what about Asia?

To date SRI has made little headway in Asia. Beyond Australia, Japan has taken the greatest lead. However more and more Asian corporations are coming to realize that poor environmental and workplace practices can impact the bottom line. ASrIA aims to mobilize the capital markets in Asia so they reward sustainable enterprises.

The ASrIA Inaugural Conference is one of the first in Asia dedicated to SRI. The region is home to almost 60% of the world's population and the development challenges and opportunities are immense. SRI has a critical role to play in fostering sustainable economic development.

Whether you are a committed SRI practitioner or a newcomer to the field, you cannot afford to ignore Asia and Asia's growing investment market. This conference offers you the first opportunity to learn about the latest trends and developments in SRI, and its prospects in Asia. Please take steps now to make a reservation for the Conference. We look forward to seeing you in Hong Kong soon.

Tessa Tennant
Chair, ASrIA
