SPEAKER BIOS
Barbara J. Krumsiek is President, Chief Executive Officer,
and Co-Chairperson of Calvert Group, Ltd., a mutual fund firm known
for its leadership in socially responsible and fixed income investment
management. Calvert, based in Bethesda, Maryland, manages over $7.5
billion in 27 mutual funds. In addition to their line-up of mutual
funds, Calvert compiles the Calvert Social IndexTM, a benchmark
measuring the performance of large, U.S.-based socially responsible
companies.
Ms. Krumsiek took the helm at Calvert in 1997. Calvert has received
recognition for its innovation and investment performance. In February
of 2001, citing Calvert's success and efforts to open the 401(k)
market to socially screened funds, Calvert was awarded a finalist
position for the third annual Harvard Business School Club of New
York, America's Entrepreneur Award. Earlier this year, Barron's
ranked Calvert third in domestic equity mutual fund performance
in 2000.
Ms. Krumsiek has over 27 years of experience in the financial services
industry. Her previous experience includes 23 years with Alliance
Capital Management, LP, most recently as Senior Vice President and
Managing Director for the mutual funds division. There, she was
responsible for over $17 billion of mutual fund assets underlying
the firm's variable annuity and insurance products, retirement fund/401(k)
business, and mutual fund products
In addition to her professional affiliations, Ms. Krumsiek's involvement
in the community is extensive. She serves on the Executive Committee
of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Boards of Greater
DC Cares, the Trickle Up Foundation, The Cultural Alliance of Washington
D.C., and on the Board of Visitors for the Howard University School
of Law. In June of this year, Ms. Krumsiek was named "Outstanding
CEO of the Year" by the Women's Business Center of Washington
DC.
Ms. Krumsiek graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from Douglass
College, Rutgers University, where she received a bachelor's degree
in mathematics. She received her masters degree in mathematics from
the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University.
In 2000, the Rutgers University Alumni Federation added her to the
Hall of Distinguished Alumni, and in that same year, Douglass College
and the Associate Alumnae named her to The Douglass Society.
Ms. Krumsiek is a native New Yorker and resides in Bethesda, Maryland
with her husband, Bart Leonard, and their two daughters.
