SPEAKER BIOS
Jacob Park is a Washington D.C.- based senior research consultant
who specializes in socially responsible investment research of Japanese
and Asian equities for Friends Ivory & Sime.
He is also a research scholar in the Harrison Program on the Future
Global Agenda, Department of Government and Politics, University
of Maryland, and a fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program.
His professional work experience covers a wide range of corporate
environmental management and research issues, including corporate
governance, stakeholder engagement, socially responsible investment
research, and climate change & green energy/technology.
A former New York City-based financial journalist, including two
years at Fortune Magazine, he worked in Tokyo, Japan for four years,
initially as a policy advisor at the Global Environmental Affairs
Office of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and later
as an environmental and urban development specialist for the United
Nations University/Institute of Advanced Studies.
He is the co-editor of two forthcoming books, Ecology of the New
Economy: Sustainable Transformation of Global Information Technology,
Communication, and Electronics Industries and Financing Global Sustainability.
His writings on a wide range of energy, environmental, and sustainable
business topics have appeared in the Business Strategy and the Environment,
Greener Management International, Energy Policy, Corporate Environmental
Strategy, as well as in the International Herald Tribune, Washington
Post, MSNBC.Com, Toronto Globe and Mail, Christian Science Monitor,
Far Eastern Economic Review, Nikkei Weekly, the Asian Wall Street
Journal, and others.
He received his master's degree in urban studies and planning from
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a bachelor's degree in public
policy from the University of Chicago, and is a former research
fellow at the Department of Urban Engineering at the University
of Tokyo.
He is on the advisory board of the Greening of Industry Network,
and a member of the ICANN's (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names
and Numbers) East Asian Membership Implementation Task Force, the
Greenhouse Gases Protocol Initiative, and the Global Reporting Initiative's
Verification Working Group.
