SPEAKER BIOS

Sari Laaksonen is working as a part-time consultant for UNEP Finance Initiatives. Positioned in Bangkok she is doing research on the impacts of Foreign Direct Investments to the Sustainable Development in Southeast Asia. Sari joined United Nations Environment Programme / Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP-ROAP) in September 2000. As a post-graduate student of the School of Management of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, she first worked for UNEP-ROAP as an intern. Her Master Thesis for the MBA Degree, "Promoting Environmental Due Diligence as an Environmental Credit Risk Management Tool in Financial Institutions - Applications in the Philippines", is based on the research she carried out for UNEP.

Currently Sari is also working with her Thesis to the University of Helsinki in order to earn the Degree of Master of Social Sciences majoring in International Politics and Development Studies. Previously she has been working with various NGO's in the field of Development Assistance, Gender and Environment.
