SA8000 Signatory Member Dole has defined its membership to cover
its
pineapple and banana production. Dole's two newest certified facilities
are
in the Philippines. One grows, processes, cans and distributes pineapples
and other fruit products and the other facility grows and packages
bananas.

Improving Workers' Rights Through Voluntary Workplace Standards
A joint worker training project was developed by Social Accountability
International (SAI) and the International Textile, Garment and Leather
Workers' Federation (ITGLWF) to train 6,000 workers in twelve countries
on
workers' rights and the use of codes of conduct to improve workplace
conditions.
The first workshop will be held in Manila, The Philippines the
week of July
16th. The curriculum includes discussion of globalization, fundamental
workers' rights, codes of conduct and how workers can use codes
to further
their rights in the workplace. Upcoming workshops will take place
Bangladesh
and India in September.
