SPI - Finance Project - news from E2 Management Consultants

Dear colleague,

We would like to update you on the progress of the SPI-Finance Project
2001 (http://www.spifinance.com/) covering social performance indicators for financial institutions.

The following financial institutions are project members:

--Co-operative Insurance (UK)
--Credit Suisse Group (CH)
--Deutsche Bank AG (D)
--Development Bank of Southern Africa (South Africa)
--Rabobank Nederland (NL)
--Swiss Re (CH)
--The Co-operative Bank (UK)
--UBS AG (CH)
--Westpac Banking Corporation (AUS)
--Zürcher Kantonalbank (CH)

We from E2 Management Consulting are acting as project managers.

SPI-Finance is linked to the Global Reporting Initiative, the international initiative to standardise corporate sustainability reporting. The key performance indicators developed in this project will
be incorporated as a sector specific supplement to the next issue of the GRI-Guidelines planned to be published in mid 2002.

The project group has now developed a first draft of key performance indicators (KPIs). These draft KPIs can be found on the SPI-Finance
website: http://www.spifinance.com/perform.htm.

The project welcomes any feedback from interested parties. On the website you will also find a form for written feedback (word document) to download. Please use this feedback form and return it to us either by
email or fax (+41-1-361 86 01). We would appreiciate receiving feedback
by January 14th, 2001. Feedback that reaches us later than January 31st, 2001 cannot be considered for the project.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

We thank you very much for your continued interest in this project.

Best regards,
Oliver Schmid-Schoenbein, Arthur Braunschweig and Gaby Oetterli
