UNITED
NATIONS ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME
FINANCE INITIATIVES
SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENT CONFERENCE
Stamford Plaza Hotel, Auckland, New Zealand
21 May 2002
We are pleased to invite you to mark your diary for the United
Nations Environment Programme Finance
Initiatives (UNEP FI) Socially Responsible Investment Conference.
A flyer for this
21 May event is enclosed.
The conference, a first for New Zealand, will build upon the success
of last years event in Melbourne and is in line with UNEPs
ongoing efforts to foster the integration of environmental and
sustainability
considerations into the operational, credit, investment and insurance
practices of financial services organisations.
Specifically, this conference will address the current and future
state of socially responsible investment
(SRI) in New Zealand. It will provide an educational opportunity
for those interested in understanding SRI
and its many forms, its implementation and the opportunities and
challenges facing a wide range of
investors.

We are fortunate to have
three keynote speakers from the international business community:
Jane Nelson (International Business Leaders Forum); Dr Don Stammer
(ING Australia); and Tessa Tennant (Association for Sustainable
& Responsible Investment in Asia), as well as a number of
excellent New Zealand and Australian presenters at the conference.
We also take this opportunity
to alert you to a conference on sustainable development being held
on 20 May at the same venue. Sustainable development and SRI are
interrelated and this conference will hold particular appeal to
those who wish to learn from global experts and practitioners about
the business case for sustainable development. Claude Fussler, Director,
World Business Council for Sustainable Development will feature
strongly at this conference. A
flyer is enclosed. Special, discounted registration fees are
being offered for attendance at both events.
If you require any additional information or wish to pre-register
